Ten simple steps for a tealicious party
The easy way to a fun day.
- Set a date for your Blue Cross Tea Party. Why not hold it on 16 May like us? However if that day isn't good for you, feel free to set a date that better suits you and your guests.
- Find a venue. This could be at work, at home, in a community centre or anywhere that allows people to gather.
.
- Invite your friends, family and work colleagues. Put up the invites and poster provided in your event pack in your local shop/community centre, send out an email or even take out an advert in your local paper.
- Visit this website for further details
- Plan some extra activities; we have lots of additional ideas for you to consider. If you think of ideas we haven't considered, please email us at events@bluecross.org.uk to let us know. If you are having a big party, additional items, for example more posters and invites, are available from as a download. Alternatively, call 08444 993 663 to request more items to be mailed to you.
- Buy lots of tea, and maybe you could buy or bake some lovely biscuits and cakes. It could be worth asking your local shop to donate some tea and biscuits.
- Tell the world! download a press release template and advice on how to write and send a press release to your local media.
- At your Tea Party, collect a donation from each guest in exchange for a cup of tea and encourage your guests to give more by taking part in your other fun activities.
- Thank all your guests for taking part and let them know what a difference their money will make to The Blue Cross and that the event will be taking place again next year too. Now you can send the 'after' press release to let your community know how well the event went.
- Finally, send the money you have raised to:

Sweetpea
Sweetpea was admitted to The Blue Cross after she'd been found wandering in an Oxfordshire village in a poor state of health.
Sweetpea (a name chosen by the equine centre staff) was frightened and weak when she came to us. Veterinary diagnoses showed that Sweetpea had damage to the vertebrae in her neck; an eye injury; acute sunburn on her nose; abrasions above both eyes and to her point of hip. She was dehydrated and unwilling to eat or drink; giving fears that she would not survive her injuries.
Thankfully, after four days in intensive care and under the supervision of Blue Cross staff, Sweetpea made a miraculous recovery.
Staff worked hard to help her regain trust in humans and ensure that she can adapt to her new surroundings without causing her any further distress.
Once Sweetpea has made a full recovery she will be looking for a loan home where she can be a non-ridden companion.
